The Droplet Mk 2 - Balsa
Ever wanting to experiment with new techniques, this board is made from laminated balsa wood rails, ply skins, hollow core, and finishes in BioSap Epoxy resin. This finish is significantly more robust than the beeswax finish on some of my previous boards, and doesn’t require the same level of maintenance as the wax finish. The only disadvantage is the additional weight of the Epoxy compared to the wax finish.

Compared to the Droplet Mk1 the balsa rails & core structure + thinner deck material has led to a significant weight saving. The Mk1 weighted 10kg... but the Mk2 Balsa is only 6.5kg - superlight!

The board itself is has a single concave rocker with 100mm lift in the nose and 50mm lift in the tail. It’s a round nose & pin tail shape. It paddles a dream, and carves it up in knee to head high waves.

This board is: 6’6″ x 21 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ – If you’re after something a bit shorter/longer, I’m happy to build to your spec.
