Ethical Ethos

My name’s Andy Murray, I’m a Bristol based Church leader (hence the ‘Rev’ in the name!) who’s passionate about surfing & working with timber in my spare time.  My faith motives me to care for people, and care for the planet.  These two dimensions drive the ethical edge of Rev Surfboards:

Caring for People

We find ourselves in a very difficult economic climate where many people are trapped in poverty.  I want to play my part in helping those in the greatest need in our local area.  With that in mind 25% of the profits from every board sold will be donated to  Bristol North West Foodbank:

Bristol North West Foodbank:  This local charity is part of a national network of 400 Foodbanks, affiliated to the Trussell Trust.  Based in local churches, and working with over 350+ care agencies in the North West Bristol area, the Foodbank provides short term supplies of food for people in times of crisis.  The charity also helps clients identify other local care agencies who can support them in their time of need.

Caring for the Planet

For many years the majority of surfboards have been manufactured using ecologically unsound materials (expanded foam with a glass fibre/polyester skin).  Inspired by the vintage board makers, and more recent pioneers in the field of hollow wooden surfboards, I am keen to build boards from sustainable materials that have a lower environmental impact.
